Sharpe Pritchard is seeking a Partner to join our friendly and ambitious law firm in the Infrastructure and Corporate Team. The Salaried Partner forms part of a network of Partners representing the firm in a range of legal practices and services to the firm’s Clients. You will be responsible for managing your client’s needs effectively in your area(s) of expertise by undertaking and supervising fee earning work ensuring this is delivered in a legally compliant, professional and timely manner. You must also ensure the successful development of the SAM and firm in line with the firm’s strategy and business plan.

We operate a hybrid working model, whereby employees can combine working from the office with working from home. The current policy provides an expectation of a minimum of one day a week in the office, subject to the needs of the firm, clients and colleagues.
Our office is within easy access of Kings Cross and Farringdon mainline stations and Chancery Lane tube.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Management Responsibilities
- To effectively deliver and delegate client work to other staff members and supervise fee earning work through continuous supervision sessions.
- Leads by example, displaying a consistent, supportive and professional demeanour at all times and being a mentor to more junior colleagues.
- Responsible for the people management of Associates and Trainees (where applicable) including staff management, setting clear objectives, annual appraisals, personal development and identifying training needs.
- Deputise for other Partners to cover periods of leave and absence.
Client Management
- Responsible for managing a portfolio of key clients in a professional and effective manner.
- Accountable for the quality of all client matters in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the firm’s Office Procedures Manual.
- At all times, exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Accountable for the development of new clients and the successful retention and repeat business of existing clients, ensuring that client satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do.
- Responsible for the development of work for other SAMs as well as own SAM and represents the firm’s wider offering.
Practice Development
- Promote the firm’s business service offerings by driving any relevant sales and marketing activity including holding key events, writing articles, marketing, seminars and involvement in tenders.
- Undertake regular reviews of business development in conjunction with the partnership.
Financial Management
- Ensure full compliance with all financial controls, procedures, systems and policies.
- Demonstrates strong financial practices (e.g. good time recording habits, timely billing, good recovery rate, good debtor management, good levels of WIP) and leads by example in this respect to those more junior.
- Demonstrates a good productivity rate and performance against personal financial key performance indicators (KPIs).
Professional Standards
- Understand, operate and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, systems and controls to ensure the smooth, safe and effective running of the practice.
- Ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
- Supervise, support and develop more junior team members.
- Comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Rules on the Professional Conduct of Solicitors.
- Be familiar with, adhere to and promote the firm’s equal opportunities policy.
- Help create a fair, transparent and inclusive working environment for all colleagues.
Continued Professional Development
- Take personal responsibility for your own and where applicable, your team’s continuous personal and professional development requirements to enable personal growth.
- Comply with the relevant training requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and assist with in-house training where it is required.
Required Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Qualified solicitor or recognised foreign equivalent/CILEX.
- Up to date knowledge of and experience in infrastructure and practice.
- Exhibit and apply in-depth specialist knowledge and thought leadership in relation to trends and issues of specialist subject areas and/or a given industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct and other regulatory requirements.
Desirable
- Strong academic attainment 2.1 Degree or equivalent.
- Knowledge and familiarity with MS Office suite.
- Experience of public and local authority sector.
- If for contentious position, advocacy experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of people and business management.
