Finance Manager

We are now recruiting for a Finance Manager to oversee the day to day running of the Finance function. Working closely with the CFO, this role would suit either an established financial manager or someone looking for their next career step up. It is a true generalist role and will have direct line management of two legal cashiers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • ensure the efficient and effective running of the finance function
  • Complete month end procedures checklist, ensuring that all items are completed so that it can be signed off by the CFO
  • Ensure that all finance team queries are dealt with quickly and efficiently by the finance team
  • Overall responsibility for communicating necessary billing schedules and other KPIs  to fee earners
  • Act as a business partner in the debt recovery process, actively working with fee earners to reduce their debts
  • Assist the CFO with the preparation of:
    • annual accounts for audit
    • working papers for auditors
    • quarterly VAT returns
    • fixed asset management
    • annual budgets and forecasts
    • Professional Indemnity Insurance proposal
    • Complex and sensitive bills

You must have:

  • An Accountancy qualification or be qualified by experience
  • Experience working for a law firm
  • Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules, the Code of Conduct and other relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Previous line management as you will be responsible for day to day running of finance team

You will have the ability to lead by example and drive change. Acting as the Finance Business Partner for the Firm you will have the ability to work constructively and effectively with individuals across the firm as well as external clients. You will have strong influencing and customer service skills and demonstrate strong business acumen and commercial awareness.
