Right to buy

Sharpe Pritchard’s real estate team acts for a number of public authorities and social housing providers in a variety of property transactions, including right to buy. 

Our solicitors assist clients you on all types of right to buy scheme, including preserved, contractual and right to acquire. 

We provide advice on all aspects the schemes in practice, from informing tenants about their right to buy, eligibility, admitting or denying applications, qualifying periods, issuing RTB2 notices and transfer documentation. 

We can also assist when disputes arise over issues such as leasehold charges or in the event of cancellation or delay.

Our real estate team also regularly assist with large purchases by way of buy-back of properties previously sold under the right to buy legislation.

  • We receive new instructions from a major local authority on a daily basis to act on their behalf in connection with the matters mentioned above;
  • We advised on £1.4 billion West London residual waste PPP;
  • We assisted in the planning of University of Cambridge development including a primary school and training school;
  • We acted for local council and assisted in the obtaining of a section 106 agreement for the development of the Cambridge North West Fringe.
