The real estate team at Sharpe Pritchard have extensive experience in advising local authorities on the development of social housing and in their responsibilities under landlord and tenant law. 

Our lawyers are experienced in negotiating complex and high value lease arrangements for all types of premises including retail, office, leisure, education and industrial units.  

Our team ensures that client transactions are completed as swiftly and efficiently as possible. We advise on a wide range of issues including:

  • lease agreements and negotiation;
  • sale and lease-back agreements;
  • termination;
  • sub-licenses;
  • service charge issues; and
  • rent reviews.

In the event of problems with tenants, our dispute resolution team offers a range of options from mediation to litigation, providing our clients with the best representation and working hard to get that desired outcome. 

Recent work

  • advising Epping Forest Council on lease agreements for a mixed use residential and commercial development scheme;
  • advising on a range of property issues arising from a school conversion to academy status including a 125 year lease;
  • advising a local authority on the grant of a lease to a special purpose vehicle on a site that the council wished to see developed promptly;
  • advising London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham on the grant of 125 year investment leases on shop premises, including advice on the surrender of an existing leasehold interest.
