The Sharpe Pritchard real estate team is highly experienced in handling property matters for the public sector.  Our solicitors advise on a wide range of activities including compulsory purchase, development agreements, right to buy, the sale and purchase of commercial property, landlord and tenant law

Our projects team provides legal support on some of the country’s largest developments in infrastructure and regeneration, including PPP and PFI projects.  Property is always a key element in such projects and the real estate team works seamlessly with our colleagues in planning and parliamentary law.

Sharpe Pritchard lawyers regularly act for local authorities in the procurement of large scale and complex PFI and PPP projects, advising on selection of private sector developer, site assembly, leasing structures, complex title reviews, due diligence, liability and preparation of certificates. We have particular expertise in the areas of education, waste, IT and leisure

We also advise on the most appropriate commercial delivery vehicle for joint venture and other collaboration arrangement to bring about regeneration schemes.

Recent work

  • acting for London Borough of Camden regarding the £60 million disposal of the annexe premises adjacent to Camden Town Hall;
  • advising on the relocation of a school on the route of HS2;
  • advising Epping Forest Council on a mixed use residential and commercial development scheme;
  • advising on a range of property issues arising from a school conversion to academy status;
  • negotiating an option agreement on a strategic site which the local authority wished to see developed promptly;
  • advising London Borough of Enfield on the regeneration of Ladderswood estate;
  • advised on £1.4 billion West London residual waste PPP; 
  • assisted in the planning of University of Cambridge development including a primary school and training school; and
  • acted for local council and assisted in the obtaining of a section 106 agreement for the development of the Cambridge North West Fringe.
