Construction industry

Sharpe Pritchard’s construction team advises a range of clients across the industry, including central government, local authorities, housing associations, developers, funders, project sponsors, consultants and charitable institutions.

We work with public sector bodies and private sector contractors across the UK.  Sharpe Pritchard has been appointed to a number of approved procurement panels

The team advises on all standard form construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, GC/Works and FIDIC. We also advise on all ancillary documentation, including bonds, parent company guarantees and collateral warranties. In addition, we advise on standard form and bespoke professional team appointments and partnering agreements.

Each of our lawyers has extensive experience in European procurement law and can advise on both contentious and non-contentious matters.  As such, we are renowned experts in property and facilities management contracts, with experience in PPP, PFI and procurement.

We also have a dedicated unit specialising in dispute resolution with a particular focus on adjudication. We are equally comfortable acting for the party referring an adjudication or responding to an adjudication and fully understand the different pressures involved in each. In addition, we advise on and guide our clients through mediation, litigation, expert determination and arbitration.

Key project sectors we work with include infrastructure, retail and commercial developments, strategic maintenance projects, education including academy conversions and new builds, waste and regeneration

The construction team regularly lectures and runs training workshops on JCT and NEC contracts, procurement in the construction industry and PPP/PFI models.
