Sharpe Pritchard, one of the UK’s leading public law firms, has held a highly anticipated Net Zero Supplier Summit to support the legal industry’s drive to achieve its Net Zero goals.
The event, held at The Royal College of Surgeons of England in London, attracted a strong turnout of legal professionals, suppliers and environmental experts, who came to hear from leading proponents of Net Zero strategies.
The event was praised for its engaging discussions and invaluable advice, which considered how the legal industry can play a pivotal role in achieving Net Zero.
Attendees enjoyed a well-structured agenda that not only informed but also inspired practical action.
The day opened with a warm welcome from Nadia Biles Davies, Chief Operating Officer at Sharpe Pritchard, who expressed the firm’s commitment to leading by example in the journey towards carbon neutrality.
Steve Gummer, Partner and Head of Net Zero at Sharpe Pritchard then followed with an insightful presentation on The Case for Net Zero and Carbon Reduction.
He carefully laid out the critical reasons why law firms and their suppliers need to integrate sustainable practices into their operations, urging the audience to recognise their collective responsibility in the fight against climate change.
One of the event’s highlights was the joint session by Kyoko Yamafuji and Daniel Crockatt from Green Element, who broke down the complexities of Net Zero into practical terms.
Their talk on What is Net Zero and How Does it Work? covered everything from the definitions of scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions, to the importance of reducing carbon footprints across all levels of a business.
The audience also enjoyed hearing from those who are already making strides towards Net Zero.
Louis Beaumont, Managing Director of Hive Cleaning, delivered an inspiring session on Our Net Zero Journey – Getting Started, sharing real-world examples of how his company embarked on the path to sustainability.
Speaking about the success of this inaugural event, Nadia said: “The discussions and attendance highlighted the enthusiasm within the legal sector to collaborate and share knowledge as firms and suppliers work towards a common goal of reducing emissions and waste.”
After the talks, Sharpe Pritchard’s guests had a chance to discuss their approach to green goals and initiatives.
“The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive,” added Nadia. “Our aim with the Net Zero Supplier Summit was to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability within the legal industry and to equip our attendees with the tools they need to make a difference. It’s heartening to see so many organisations committed to driving real change.”
Sharpe Pritchard is committed to continuing its leadership in sustainability and supporting the legal profession in achieving Net Zero.
