‘Green Goals’ pioneer Sharpe Pritchard shortlisted for prestigious ESG award

In recognition of its ongoing environmental initiatives and net-zero ambitions, leading clean energy experts, Sharpe Pritchard has been shortlisted at the inaugural Legal 500 ESG Awards 2024. 

 

The firm’s stand-out green initiatives have achieved a sought-after place on the shortlist in the Best Environmental/Sustainability Strategy category. 

 

Run by the Legal 500, a leading global guide to the legal industry, the awards recognise organisations and individuals across the legal sector for their efforts to “bring about change across all aspects of ESG, including diversity, inclusion and environmental and sustainability strategy.

 

The firm recognises the importance of an effective environmental strategy for its future success, its clients, and broader society. It is dedicated to implementing sustainable working practices and achieving net zero, leveraging its work and educational initiatives in an effort to enhance sustainability.

 

As an organisation, they have eliminated scope 1 and 2 emissions, thanks to using 100 per cent renewable electricity. Compared to the current national average carbon footprint of 39,532 tCO2e per year in the legal sector, the firm has achieved an impressive figure of just 269.6 tCO2e per year [1]. The current footprint is a direct result of several internal initiatives.

 

In addition to reducing its carbon footprint by 13 per cent per employee in 2023, the firm has implemented programmes to eliminate single-use plastic, boost in-office recycling and lower carbon emissions by partnering with low-emission vehicle and delivery providers.

  

On a larger scale, the team at Sharpe Pritchard has embraced the firm’s low carbon policy, conducting annual supply chain audits and identifying opportunities to cut energy usage in collaboration with its landlords. [SC1] Incorporating its sustainable approach into business-as-usual work, the firm is a leader in the sector and reflects this in its ‘Green Steves’ initiative, which provides consultancy services for public bodies around environmental issues and their legal implications.

 

As the firm supports its clients in achieving their green commitments through its ‘Green Goals’ programme, the team continues to be proactive and celebrate its achievement.

The awards will be presented on 24th April at an industry-star-studded evening at the Intercontinental Hotel on London’s Park Lane, serving as a platform to announce the winners and celebrate the accomplishments of firms and individuals driving positive change in the legal sector.
