Rumaysa joined the Dispute Resolution team at Sharpe Pritchard in 2024.

Having worked in a Landlord and Tenant department at a national law firm since 2017, Rumaysa has a vast amount of experience in disrepair claims and has successfully represented clients with their disputes at both the pre-action stage and once the matter has been issued at Court.

Rumaysa also has experience in representing clients at hearings, and previously acted as a duty solicitor at court, providing advice to those without legal representation both before and after their hearing.

Rumaysa’s role:

Rumaysa advises on various housing-related issues, but focuses particularly on disrepair due to the rise in housing condition claims in recent years. She advises local government in disrepair cases and the issues which may affect a claim, such as anti-social behaviour and limitation etc.

Rumaysa thoroughly enjoys advocacy; therefore, she continues to attend court for her individual cases, when required, which provides a seamless experience for those instructing her, as she is aware of the case details from the outset. Rumaysa explores each case in great detail, picking up on niche areas or points, to ensure no stone is left unturned for her clients.

Rumaysa regularly attends seminars and housing conferences to ensure she is aware of any new changes in legislation and any developments within social housing in general.

What skills or behaviours make you good at your role?

Having knowledge on how to effectively represent both tenants and local government, Rumaysa strives to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients by considering every aspect of the case with a fine-tooth comb. Rumaysa’s experience allows her to understand the likely outcome of a case early on and what may be expected as the cases progresses for either party.
