Raj Shah

Raj’s work predominantly focuses on negotiating, drafting, and advising on a range of commercial contracts in a number of sectors (including technology, infrastructure, and health and social care services) and advising on the exploitation of intellectual property. He acts for clients both in the private sector (particularly tech start-ups) and the public sector (especially local government authorities, to which he has been seconded).

Typical commercial agreements that Raj advises on include goods and services contracts, software licensing and maintenance support agreements, non-disclosure/confidentiality agreements, website terms and conditions, privacy and cookie policies, and intellectual property assignments and licences. For public sector clients, this work frequently encompasses advising on procurement implications under the EU procurement regime. More recently, Raj has advised on contractual compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Raj also specialises in protecting and commercially exploiting clients’ intellectual property, and frequently advises on copyright issues and trade mark registration and licensing, both domestically and internationally.

He has additionally delivered training on a number of topics, including contract management for ICT services, commissioning health contracts, and the implications of Brexit on public procurement.
