Raj Shah

Associate

Raj regularly advises clients on contractual issues for a range of services and industries, including ICT, health and social care, infrastructurefacilities management and other central and local government services. Raj works for a variety of clients, including public sector bodies, local authorities and private companies, and also has private sector experience, both contentious and non-contentious. Key specialisms include drafting commercial contracts and tender documentation for procurements falling under the EU procurement regime (including those jointly conducted by several contracting authorities), as well as advising on intellectual property issues, especially copyright, trade marks (including their registration both domestically and internationally) and related rights.

Raj has prepared presentations and delivered training (both in-house and externally) on a number of topics, including the commissioning landscape in the procurement of health services, the use of pre-qualification questionnaires at selection stage in procurements, and the implications of the Bribery Act 2010 on local authorities. He has also written articles that have appeared in Lawyer2B and ConsortEM magazines.

  • Acting for five local authorities in respect of a joint procurement of corporate and facilities management services, worth approximately £180 million;
  • Advising several London boroughs involved in a pan-London scheme for charging infrastructure to facilitate the uptake and use of electric vehicles following a £1 million deal between Transport for London and the scheme operator;
