Laura is an experienced construction lawyer specialising in non-contentious construction matters for the public sector. She trained and qualified at Sharpe Pritchard having previously worked in-house for a London-based local authority as a paralegal.

Laura’s role:

Laura works with public sector organisations on various projects, including new housing, repairs, maintenance, and school contracts. She handles all project aspects, from procurement to contract completion, and assists in pre-contract negotiations. Her main focus is advising employer clients to ensure they have robust contracts for managing their construction projects.

Laura has excellent knowledge of the JCT suite, NEC4, and other construction contracts such as FAC-1, PPC 2000, and industry-standard consultant appointments. She advises on building safety matters, is well-versed in public procurement, and understands the main framework agreements used for public works contracts. Laura also helps clients address construction issues such as delays and cost increases, ensuring they fully utilise their contracts’ mechanisms to resolve contractor issues.

Skills and strengths:

Laura has a calm and facilitative approach to working with clients. She is extremely patient and sees her role not only as a legal advisor but also as a knowledge provider as she likes to ensure that clients learn each time they work on a project. Laura regularly provides client training on all aspects of construction law and practice.
