John Sharland

Partner

John specialises in advising on substantial public authority projects and procurement law, including housing and social services projects.  He has an in depth understanding of local government law and operations, having previously worked for the London Boroughs of Croydon, Hammersmith and Fulham and Hackney. John also advises on commercial contractsPPP and PFI projects and procurement law.

John is an expert on administrative law and local government finance, and regularly advises on public law issues such as constitution and governance, propriety and ethics, freedom of information, data protection and human rights.

John is ranked as a leading individual for local government law in the 2014 edition of Chambers UK.

A regular speaker at public sector conferences, John is the author of:

  • Changes to EU Procurement Rules - What Lies in Wait (2014);
  • Challenges to Procurement Decisions - The Issues and Pitfalls (2014);
  • The Data Protection Regulations – The Implications (2014);
  • A Practical Approach to Local Government Law (OUP, 2006).

John is a member of the Procurement Lawyers Association.
