Helen has a considerable range of non-contentious construction experience across both the public and private sectors. She also has experience with aspects of contentious construction law.

Helen’s role:

Helen regularly drafts standard-form construction contracts (including those from the JCT and NEC suites) together with their associated ancillary documentation as well as forms of consultant appointment. Helen also advises clients on all aspects of contract interpretation and negotiation and assists in drafting bespoke amendments, helping clients find innovative and pragmatic solutions to satisfy their requirements both generally and on a project-specific basis. On the contentious side, Helen assists clients with contract interpretation to assist clients in understanding their position, option appraisals and settlement agreements. Her practice spans central government, local authorities and the housing sector as well as education providers and emergency services which has allowed her to develop a thorough understanding of their specific needs, including in respect of overarching procurement implications.

Skills and strengths:

Helen works collaboratively with clients to assess their requirements and to offer practical and commercially-minded advice to help them achieve their aims.  She works diligently and professionally to assist clients in breaking down and resolving complex legal problems, efficiently and within the required timeframes. Helen has a keen attention to detail and a thorough approach to her practice, which ensures she constantly delivers to a very high standard for her clients.

Helen demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of construction law contracts. She is very professional in her approach to clients and shows a high level of commitment and dedication to her work

Head of Projects Delivery, Russell Group University

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank Helen for her support, professionalism, and patience with the completion of the JCT contract we needed in record time. I cannot stress enough how supportive this has been in assisting in stopping the potential disaster that could have occurred without the combined effort. Helen has an erudite quality that gave assurance during the process. Once again thank you for an excellent job well done.
