Charlotte is a Technology and Data specialist at Sharpe Pritchard. She specialises in complex technology business process outsourcing projects and advises on all aspects of data protection compliance for business, government, local authorities and the wider public sector.

Charlotte’s role:

Charlotte is an experienced data protection practitioner, regularly advising clients on the drafting of data processing agreements, data protection policies and privacy notices as well as advising on responses to subject access requests, breach notifications and international data transfers. She can also support you with your ongoing data protection compliance by reviewing and updating data and information governance policies.

Charlotte advises on a wide range of technology outsourcing matters such as cloud technology (e.g. Software as a Service), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems and the purchase and lease of devices including printers. Charlotte has experience of advising on standalone procurement processes as well as advising on technology framework agreements such as G-Cloud and CCS Technology Services 3.

Skills and strengths:

Charlotte works with clients in a collaborative manner and has previously undertaken secondments to clients, demonstrating her ability to fit well in one team.

  • Supporting a large public sector body on the procurement of a contract for end user computing services. This involved the preparation of the contract and tender documents and advising the client throughout the tender process, including on responses to clarification questions and the preparation of standstill letters.
  • Working with a regulator on their GDPR preparation project, including advising on the data processing agreements required and the preparation of a record of processing activities. This involved time working on-site with the client.
  • Secondment to an in-house legal team for a central government department to support on a range of projects during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Advising a local authority on the procurement of an enterprise resource planning SaaS solution by calling-off from a CCS framework.
  • Working with a newly formed public body to review their data protection and information law policies and procedures. This included the preparation of an information handling procedure, standard template letters to use when handing requests for information and training to the in-house team.
