SP team scores a winner for our charity of the year

In celebration of and to participate in the Euros 2020 in our own light hearted way, Sharpe Pritchard held a group winner predictor competition and a sweepstake.

We invited our staff members to make a donation to take part and raise money for our charity partner Reach Out 2 Kids. It was a lot of fun and we are delighted to have raised £330 which the firm has matched, meaning we have made a £660 donation to our charity of the year.

Thank you to all that took part. To learn more about our charity partner please see here: https://www.ro2k.co.uk/about-us

Putting our best foot forward for a worthy cause

Putting our best foot forward for a worthy cause

During the coronavirus lockdown, the team at Sharpe Pritchard made the most of their daily walk by raising much needed cash for a worthy cause.

Fifty partners and staff at the firm pounded the streets and footpaths to raise funds for the Access to Justice Foundation Emergency Advice Appeal by collectively walking or running 1,000 kilometres.

The team had aimed to complete the challenge in 14 days but smashed that target by covering 1,273 kilometres in just nine days.

Crisis Square Mile Run

Crisis Square Mile Run

The firm took part in this charity run again in 2018 – a refreshing 4 mile dash around central London to raise money for Crisis, the homeless charity.

The fun event saw the SP team of 13 runners do really well. Steve Gummer and Jonathan Wall did really well, finishing came in 11th and 13th respectively out of over 300 runners whilst extra praise must be given to Alexandra Bellis who had ‘never run in her life’ and despite forgetting her shorts, committed to running the race in her lovely dress and tights!

We also believe in the importance of engaging with the needs of our local and wider community by using our personal skills and interests, time and financial resources.

Each year we choose one or two charities, from a list nominated by employees, on which to focus our fundraising and volunteering activities. In 2019 we are supporting Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA).

Christmas bake sales

In both years, the firm purchased a large quantity of cupcakes from The Fancy Baker, a South London independent artisan cake business and staff made a voluntary donation for each delicious cupcake. The firm raised over £500 for the chosen charities, across both Christmases.

In 2017 the recipient of our donations was Water Aid, a well-established charity which helps provide clean water to remote communities in the developing world. The Government offered match funding to Water Aid, which effectively doubled the funds which we raised.

In 2018, the chosen charity was the Royal Marsden Hospital, with which the firm has a personal connection.

Old Blackberry phones

Over the years the firm has built up a sizeable collection of old Blackberry phones which were gathering dust in a box.

These phones still worked so we donated them to a charity called Reconnected, which works with Three Mobile to give people in need access to phones. They work with communities to identify individuals that would benefit most from having access to a phone to turn their lives around.
