Property
Our property team handles major property transactions for public bodies, often in collaboration with our PPP/PFI and planning specialists. Our work includes advising on development and regeneration projects, joint ventures, large scale stock transfers, compulsory purchase, housing, lettings and licences and all types of property acquisitions and disposals.
Our team is highly experienced in dealing with all property aspects of large scale and complex PFI and PPP projects for the firm’s public sector clients including advising on site assembly, leasing structures, due diligence and the preparation of Certificates of Title, the exercise of CPO powers and SDLT liability.
Recent work includes:
Advising a number of county councils in relation to the site and property aspects of their waste PFI projects.
Assisting a London borough in connection with all the property aspects of its social services PFI including acquiring a site for its extra care sheltered housing accommodation, part of a much larger site in the course of being redeveloped by one of the national house builders.
Undertaking a number of large-scale transfers of residential homes.
Acting for local authorities in connection with a number of complex town centre redevelopments.
Advising a London borough on a large scale voluntary transfer of approximately 700 council owned residential properties.
Acting for a city council in the compulsory acquisition of empty private properties as part of its Empty Homes Strategy.
