Sharpe Pritchard acts for Aylesbury Vale District Council
Sharpe Pritchard acted for Aylesbury Vale District Council in the procurement of a construction project for a new landmark theatre in Aylesbury. The Waterside Theatre is part of a major redevelopment of Aylesbury town centre and is a prestigious construction project. The construction contract was won by Willmott Dixon Construction Limited and is based on JCT 2005. The iconic design was by RHWL Arts Team, the cost consultant is Rider Levett Bucknall and the project manager is Gardiner & Theobald.
The contract was in the form of a two stage instrument. The first stage facilitated design, engineering and cost input by the contractor and the second was a commencement order for the construction in July. Building is now well under way.
Norman Skedge from the council said of the project "to bring this iconic theatre project to this stage required a good team and I am delighted that the legal input was an excellent addition to the team."
Partner Roseanne Serrelli said, "This was an extremely interesting project which required innovative drafting to facilitate the two stage process. We were delighted to have been involved."
