Sharpe Pritchard appointed as legal advisers on another waste PFI project
Sharpe Pritchard have been appointed as Legal Advisers on Leicestershire County Council’s Waste PFI Project. The County Council will be procuring a PFI Contractor to undertake the design, construction, financing and 25-year operation of a new residual waste facility and the Sharpe Pritchard team, headed by Partner Sheila Storey, assisted by Gareth Rees, will be advising on all aspects of the procurement. This appointment is in addition to the waste team’s other recent appointment for Suffolk’s waste PFI and our on-going work for Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Westminster and Buckinghamshire in relation to their major waste management projects.
The County Council submitted its Expression of Interest for PFI Credits to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in September 2007. The amount of PFI credits available to Defra to distribute for waste projects is at least 50% of a Project’s capital expenditure.
Sheila Storey said, "We are absolutely delighted to be appointed by Leicestershire County Council and look forward to working with the County Council and its other advisers on this exciting project. Waste PFI/PPP is one of the core areas of our expertise and we have considerable experience to bring to the Project."
