Sharpe Pritchard advises Cambridgeshire County Council on its major Street Lighting PFI project
Sharpe Pritchard has advised Cambridgeshire County Council in relation to its £291 million Street Lighting PFI Project. The contract will provide for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of street lighting and items of street furniture across the County for a period of 25 years. During the initial 5 year core investment period the project will provide for the replacement of approximately 43,000 new street lights, illuminated signs and bollards and the installation of monitoring systems in key parts of the County. The project closed on 19th April 2011. The Service Provider is Balfour Beatty, through its special purpose company Connect Roads Cambridgeshire Limited.
Sharpe Pritchard has been working with Cambridgeshire County Council since early 2007 and advised on all aspects of the project including contract, procurement, employment and pensions and negotiation. The project is part of a joint procurement process with Northamptonshire County Council.
The Sharpe Pritchard team was led by senior projects partner Julia Rudin, supported by fellow partners Sally Stock (Projects) and John Sharland (Pensions and TUPE) with assistance from senior solicitor Brian Yates.
