Sharpe Pritchard acts as parliamentary agents for three new street trading acts
Sharpe Pritchard acted as parliamentary agents for Leicester City Council, Liverpool City Council and Maidstone Borough Council in the successful promotion of three private Acts which attained Royal Assent on 11th July 2006, just 6 months after introduction of Bills in the House of Commons. The Acts follow precedents established in London, Newcastle and Northern Ireland, and remove partially the exemption enjoyed by pedlars under the street trading provisions of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982. The Acts also provide council officers and the police with powers to seize articles connected with unlawful street trading, and enable the courts to forfeit such items.
