Parliamentary and planning news
The Crossrail Bill is finally nearing the end of its Parliamentary process. Sharpe Pritchard acted for over 40 petitioners against the Bill in the Lords and the Commons, including many of the local authorities affected. This included advising councils on generic issues, including noise, dust, costs and the mechanism for enforcing the environmental protection regime under the Bill. After the select committee proceedings, Parliamentary assistant Kevin Hart fronted a well-received seminar for all local authorities affected, attended by over 70 delegates.
The Sharpe Pritchard planning team goes from strength to strength, picking up new clients and work across the whole range of planning work. The team is seeing a rapid expansion in the number of instructions and will soon be expanding with the introduction of two legal staff.
Planning Partner John Harrison and assistant Emyr Thomas have recently had an article published in the Journal of Planning and Environment Law about the Mayor of London’s new planning powers.
