Diversity and continuity are the watchwords at Sharpe Pritchard, one of London’s leading firms of public law specialists, which has retained all of its trainees for the last three years.

Sharpe Pritchard is one of London’s top public law firms, acting for local authorities, central government bodies, contracting authorities, other public sector organisations and registered social landlords, as well as commercial clients and other organisations.

All of the firm’s trainees who qualified in each of the last three years have remained as solicitors at Sharpe Pritchard after qualifying. They include Charlotte Smith, Edwina Acland, Amy Boulter, Uzma Raja, Niki Constantinou and Emily Knowles.

The firm’s success in retaining its recent trainees as qualified solicitors builds on its strong track-record of cultivating the careers of its trainees post-qualification. A number of Sharpe Pritchard’s partners joined as trainees, before working their way through the ranks, including Julia Rudin, the firm’s Managing Partner, as well as Roseanne Serrelli, Nicola Sumner, Trevor Griffiths, Annie Moy and Sally Stock.

Meanwhile, the firm’s investment in its trainees, coupled with its tendency to recruit new partners from within, has helped it achieve near gender-parity amongst its partners, of whom 10 of 21 are women.

Moreover, the firm’s diversity data reveals that at least seven partners at Sharpe Pritchard were among the first in their family to attend university, while at least 10 attended a UK state school.

Julia Rudin said: “We are very proud that we have retained all of our trainees who have qualified in the last three years.

“This underscores the effectiveness of our commitment to the development of our staff as well as our success in recruiting and promoting on merit.”

“These factors have contributed to the diversity we have within our firm, meaning that our work is always informed by a range of perspectives and real-world experiences.

“All of this brings significant benefits to our clients, often enabling them to have the same point of contact for many years with solicitors who know their organisations inside out.”

Training contracts at Sharpe Pritchard are always in high demand. The next round of recruitment for trainees starting in September 2020 will open in spring 2018.
